Since 1950, Pay-Less Markets Inc. has grown from a single grocery store to a locally owned supermarket chain with 8 convenient store locations throughout our island. Ben Reyes - 34 years - Meat Category manager
I love Pay-Less! I started as a bagger straight out of high school from 1982 through 1985 at the Harmon location. This
was before it was purchased by Calvo's.
The Pay-Less Markets on Guam was purchased shortly thereafter by the Calvo's in 1985. I was promoted to a stocker
and briefly cross trained in the meat and produce department. I left Guam for a couple of years and returned in 1987
where I was rehired as a bagger. Within the same year, I was given the opportunity to be promoted to a stocker and
shortly thereafter promoted to an assistant store manager. The following year, I was asked to go into the meat
department as a supervisor. I had no prior experience but learned everything about the position/department on the
job. It was quite the experience to compete for meat sales with a well known grocery chain on island! After a year,
I was promoted to store manager for the Sinajana location, and went on to be manager at the Oka and Dededo
locations, and finally was selected to the the meat category manager in 2000. I literally grew with Pay-Less.
It is a great place to work!

Bernie Onedera - 37 years - Operations Manager
I have been employed with Pay-Less Markets for 37 years! I started as a cashier and was in this position for 6 years.
Soon after, I was promoted to assistant store manager.
I was also in this position for 6 years. My hard work paid off and I was promoted to store manager in 1993.
I was able manage the old Northgate location in Tamuning, Agana, Dededo and the store located in the Micronesia
Mall. In October 2016, I was promoted to operations manager. I will be two years in this position this coming
June 2018. It's been a great journey working with the employees and climbing the PayLess Markets ladder! I have
seen Pay-Less Markets grow from a few stores to 8 full service grocery markets and from a staff of a few hundred
to almost eight hundred employees. It is truly a great place to work!
