Junior Buyer
Job Purpose:
The Junior Buyer will assist assigned Category Buyers with clerical and operational tasks while independently managing smaller categories to procure merchandise. This position supports the procurement team by ensuring smooth operations, accurate data entry, and timely purchases that align with customer needs and company goals. The Junior Buyer will contribute to ensuring the availability of quality products across all store locations.

Assist Category Buyers:
Support assigned Category Buyers in clerical tasks such as data entry, purchase order creation, vendor communication, and report generation.

Manage Smaller Categories:
Take ownership of smaller product categories, including product selection, vendor negotiations, and inventory management to meet customer needs and maximize profitability.

Maintain SKU Listings:
Update and maintain accurate SKU information, including descriptions, pricing, and inventory levels, to ensure smooth operations and informed purchasing decisions.

Support Promotional Planning:
Assist in planning and executing holiday, seasonal, and special promotions. Ensure smaller category items are aligned with marketing initiatives and available for promotional periods.

Collaborate with Store Teams:
Communicate with store Category Supervisors to gather feedback on product performance, regional preferences, and inventory requirements for smaller categories.

Vendor Relations:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors. Assist in negotiating terms and ensuring timely delivery of merchandise for assigned categories.

Market Research:
Monitor industry trends, customer preferences, and competitor offerings to identify opportunities for category growth and improvement.

Data Management and Analysis:
Use sales and inventory data to analyze category performance, forecast needs, and make informed procurement decisions for assigned categories.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Education/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in purchasing, merchandising, or retail operations, preferably in the grocery or retail industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with a collaborative mindset.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Basic understanding of retail trends, customer preferences, and seasonal buying patterns.

Problem-solving skills with a proactive and adaptable approach.

Willingness to learn and grow within the procurement function.
